As you probably already know, Matalot is an intelligent task manager that aims to simplify and automate most of your daily task management. In order to do that, Matalot needs you to define categories that best describe your daily tasks, and provide as much info as possible about them.
When you'll first start Matalot, you'll get the following screen:
The selected tab when you launch Matalot is always the Current tab. This tab shows you only the tasks that are relevant to this point in time and space. Matalot considers tasks as relevant if all of the followings are true:
The Current tab is where you'll usually look for the things you need to do. It is updated whenever you launch Matalot and shows you only what's important to you right now.
In the Current tab there are several elements:
At the top right corner of the screen you'll find a white circle that reminds a rifle sight. This circle animates to indicate Matalot is looking for your physical location. While updating your location Matalot also updates the list of your relevant tasks.
The location lookup doesn't last forever. There is an automatic timeout after a few minutes which is meant for saving your device's battery power. When the Locating You indicator stops animating it means Matalot has finished looking for location updates.
If you can't see the location indicator as seen in the above picture, check out Question: I can't see the indicator you describe.
The title of the Current tab changes based on your physical location. Whenever Matalot updates your location the title is changed to reflect this.
The location shown in the title is not one of your saved locations. Whenever the location is updated, your saved locations are compared against it which allows Matalot to filter the relevant tasks.
When Matalot updates your location, it tries to find a human readable name for it, as the GPS coordinates won't be very helpful to most users. That name lookup requires internet connection and may fail for various reasons, or may take a long time to complete. If this happens, Matalot displays “Here” as the name to indicate it knows your location but can't find a name for it.
At the top right of the screen, you'll find the add button - the button with + on it. You can use this button, either in the Current tab or in the Uncompleted tab when you need to create a new task.
You can read more about task creation here.
The Uncompleted tab, which is right next to the Current tab, shows you all of your uncompleted tasks. The list in this tab is ordered based on the tasks' relevance to your current time and place, but include all irrelevant tasks as well.
As the name suggests, the Completed tab shows all your finished tasks. Whenever you complete a task, the task is automatically moved to this list.
Matalot automatically clears old completed tasks after a period you define. You can read more about the auto delete feature here.
The categories tab shows the categories you defined, ordered by their relevance to the current time and location. You can read more about categories and the Categories tab here.
